1. Our commitment

Activity Atlas helps adults discover, plan and book activities. Some activities are for children. We take children's safety and wellbeing seriously.

Activity Atlas is a platform. We do not run activities and we do not supervise children at activities. Providers are responsible for delivering activities safely and lawfully. Our role is to set clear expectations, protect data, moderate the platform and respond responsibly to concerns reported to us.

Some map results are limited public listings collected from publicly available information. These listings are not checked or endorsed by Activity Atlas unless a specific Activity Atlas trust marker says so. Parents and guardians should contact the venue or provider directly before attending.

2. Responsibilities

Providers are responsible for:

• safe and lawful delivery of their activities;
• appropriate supervision;
• safeguarding procedures;
• staff suitability, including DBS or other checks where required;
• insurance;
• first aid arrangements;
• licences, registrations or venue permissions where required;
• accurate activity information.

Parents and guardians are responsible for deciding whether an activity is suitable and for following provider instructions.

Activity Atlas is responsible for:

• requiring attestations from registered or claiming providers;
• handling platform reports, including reports about incorrect public listing information;
• moderating provider-managed listings and user-submitted content;
• protecting personal data;
• restricting or removing providers where needed;
• escalating serious concerns where appropriate.

Private event invitations and communication

Accounts, event guests, family membership and messaging are for adults aged 18 or over. Children may browse public activities and be offline participants in an adult's plan; they must not join private chat or use another person's login.

The organiser's chosen name is shown before a recipient joins. It is not an identity check. Organisers must invite adults privately and verify requests through the confirmation-code process; recipients should confirm unexpected invitations using a contact route they already trust. Registration, payment, adult declarations and a QR/link do not establish good intentions or safety.

Organisers choose the arrangements and participants remain responsible for their conduct. Activity Atlas retains its platform duties, responds to concerns and may restrict access, preserve relevant evidence and make lawful referrals. Report suspected underage access, impersonation, grooming, threats or dangerous invitations even where the event description otherwise appears harmless. Private conversations are server processed, not end-to-end encrypted.

At launch, safeguarding reports are triaged by the founder/operator or appointed safeguarding lead.

If a child or any person is in immediate danger, call 999 first.

4. Reporting a concern

5. How we respond

When we receive a safeguarding concern, we may:

• record the concern and relevant facts;
• assess urgency and risk;
• restrict, suspend or remove a provider/listing/account;
• restrict payment services where available;
• preserve evidence;
• contact the provider or reporter where appropriate;
• refer the matter to police, local authority children's services or another appropriate body.

Where the statutory duty applies, detected previously unreported child sexual exploitation and abuse content, including relevant grooming content, must be reported to the National Crime Agency through the prescribed process. We do not ask users to recirculate such material or routinely read every private message.

We do not investigate suspected abuse ourselves beyond what is needed to make a safe and appropriate referral.

6. Provider expectations

Registered or claiming providers must confirm they are responsible for safe and lawful delivery, including safeguarding, DBS checks, insurance, licences and accurate listing information where applicable.

We may ask providers for evidence at any time, especially where there is a complaint, dispute, safety concern or moderation issue.

7. Children's data

We minimise children's data by design. Children do not create Activity Atlas accounts. Planner labels and birth details are optional and stay on the adult’s device/browser. Current trial bookings use opaque references and reject participant names and birth details. A child profile is not required. Any older attendee records follow our retention and anonymisation process.

8. Review

We review this policy at least annually and after significant safeguarding incidents or product changes.

Messaging reports and child-access safeguards

Private accounts and invitations are for adults, but age declarations and paid subscriptions do not prove age or identity. Forwarded invitations, shared adult accounts and attempted adult-child contact remain foreseeable risks. Verify an invitee independently and use the approval code; never rely on a nickname alone.

Use Report or block beside a message, or contact support@activityatlas.co.uk. Reports send the selected message and relevant context to restricted safety review. A block does not remove a person from the event or hide the pin; leave or remove membership to end access. We may restrict messaging and preserve necessary case evidence, and we consider appeals and missed-issue complaints. Limited automated message checks supplement reports; they cannot guarantee protection. In immediate danger call 999. Suspected CSEA must follow the secure reporting process and applicable NCA duties; do not distribute suspected material.
