Data sources & licences

Activity Atlas combines provider-supplied information with retained open and public data. These notices explain where selected listing and map facts come from and the licences that apply.

Charity Commission for England and Wales

Charity names, registered charity numbers and official website links may come from the Register of Charities full register download. This public-sector information is licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Office for National Statistics postcode data

Activity Atlas uses the ONS Postcode Directory to match an evidenced England postcode to an approximate postcode location and administrative geography. A postcode point is not a building entrance and may not be the activity's exact position.

First-party provider and organisation websites

An activity provider or organisation's own public website may supply factual evidence of its activity type, rehearsal venue or class location. Website evidence is recorded separately from the Charity Commission and ONS data above; it is not presented as government data or licensed under the Open Government Licence.

A charity's registered or correspondence address is not treated as an activity venue unless the organisation's own website also identifies it as the relevant class or rehearsal location.

Foursquare OS Places

Some place information is derived from Foursquare OS Places under the Apache License, Version 2.0.

Overture Maps Places

Some place information comes from Overture Maps Foundation. The Places theme combines contributing sources under different permissive licences. Activity Atlas retains each record's contributing-source and licence metadata rather than applying one blanket licence to every Overture record.

Legacy Google Places references

Some older listings were initially discovered through Google Places and may retain a Google Place ID or a link that opens the place in Google Maps. These identifiers and links are not presented as open-licence data.

The nationwide singing import described above does not copy Google coordinates, photos, phone numbers or website details. Google-hosted maps, photos and place information remain on Google's service and are subject to Google's own terms.
